SURGICAL INSTITUTE OF READING WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR HEALTHCARE EXCELLENCE

APEX Quality AwardNovember 29, 2010 Reading, PA — The Surgical Institute of Reading (SIR), located in Wyomissing, PA, is pleased to be one of only 22 national winners of the 2009/2010 Apex Quality Award. The award is given to the highest performing healthcare facilities and recognizes providers for their excellence in patient satisfaction and loyalty attributes. "We are honored by this award and are especially proud of the level of care we are able to provide our patients in Berks County and the surrounding areas," comments , RN, Surgical Institute of Reading Administrator. "Our commitment to our patients, physicians and the communities we serve is our core focus as we implement solid, best-practice initiatives."

The award is given by CTQ Solutions, which serves healthcare facilities in all 50 states and helps facilities monitor, benchmark and improve patient satisfaction by leveraging innovative online technology. To receive this award, a facility must:

  • Fall within the top 10 percent of its peers' overall score average

  • Meet a minimum threshold response for surveys returned during the past year by facility type

  • Measure a minimum number of key performance indicators selected by CTQ

"CTQ's Apex Award continues to command a high level of prestige in the healthcare industry," notes CTQ President and CEO, Paul G. Faraclas. "This distinction is unique because these select healthcare entities are recognized primarily on the basis of their patients' feedback compared to their peers." The CTQ's surveys are heavily weighted with measurements that assess various care attributes. Interaction with surgeons, nurses and anesthesiologists are balanced by other care assessments.

SIR proved their commitment to patient focus and satisfaction through the development and utilization of advanced technology. The facility continues to be forward thinking, finding the most efficient ways to serve its patients and create an exception surgery experience.
