The Surgical Institute of Reading's philosophy of care.

Our professional staff at Surgical Institute of Reading is dedicated to providing the highest quality of individualized care to the community we serve, as well as each individual patient's care and concerns. This family-centered, patient focused approach is intended to promote long-term health and well-being that results in a high degree of patient satisfaction.

In providing quality medical care, we use techniques to maximize a safe, convenient and cost-effective environment. Responsibilities to you, our patient.

We accept all patient rights and responsibilities as part of our mission to provide you with any healthcare services you may need. During your surgical stay, SIR will provide:

  • Education to help you and your family understand the best possible way to stay healthy after your recovery.
  • Treatment options that may be required as an outpatient or at home.
  • The best healthcare in a pleasant, clean and safe surrounding.
  • Social services, if your doctor requires them.
  • A contact person, as stated in our grievance procedure, if you have any concerns or suggestions on how to make improvements at our facility.
  • Language assistance, if required, during your hospital stay.
  • Follow-up care as needed on an individual basis.

Your responsibilities as a patient at SIR.

To help us provide you with optimal care, please follow these guidelines.

  • Please keep all scheduled appointments
  • Please ask questions immediately if there is something concerning your health or pain management that you do not understand.
  • Inform your doctor and healthcare team of any changes in your health, including pain you are experiencing.
  • Please comply with our guidelines for visitors, no smoking and keeping noise level to a minimum.
  • Help us to protect confidentiality and privacy—for yourself and other patients.
  • Please provide us with current insurance information to be able to process your hospital bill.
  • Please endorse your insurance check and bring it to the hospital in a timely manner. Discuss your payment options with our Business Office prior to surgery.
